National MarketMaker and USDA

The Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass was unveiled by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan via a live webinar on February 29, 2012. A paramount objective of Deputy Secretary Merrigan is to encourage a national conversation of how to improve food systems and recognize the resources that are available for this purpose. Because of the presence of synergistic objectives, National Food MarketMaker and AgMRC have joined forces to expand the reach of the Compass goals relative to stimulating a national conversation about local and regional foods. This concept has manifested itself in exciting new ways.

Marketing-El Mercadeo

Whether growers establish a farm market on their farm, travel to a local citys farm market, or establish community supported agriculture (CSA), any fruit and vegetable growers have found that direct marketing to consumers is a profitable and rewarding way to sell produce. Se puede definir el mercadeo directo como la venta directa del productor al consumidor, pero esta definición sencilla no toma en cuenta la importancia de las relaciones personales involucradas en estos intercambios.

Value Added Agriculture-Agricultura Con Valor Agregado

The profitability of meat-animal production has declined due to increasing feed, fuel, and fertilizer costs. Therefore, several producers who want to gain a greater portion of the available profit margin are trying to become meat marketers, rather than just livestock marketers. En respuesta a la disminución de los ingresos netos de las haciendas, en un mercado global altamente competitivo, muchos productores agrícolas son aconsejados que, para sobrevivir, incluyan actividades que den valor agregado a sus productos.

Honey Resources

Nothing is perhaps more confusing to the honey processor or consumer than honey labeling. This is because a U.S. code of honey labeling does not exist, and many terms used on honey labels convey little if any meaning. Honey house sanitation should ever be on the mind of the honey processor. Even though extraction and bottling are often inherently messy affairs, they should not detract from presenting an aesthetically pleasing and healthful product to the consumer.
